Wander the Wild Heart of Italy - Veroli, May 2020

CIOCIARIA, Italy
Next Experience Previous Experience

Description

: 10-16 May 2020

If you’ve seen all the main sights of Italy, would like to get off the beaten track to experience life in a regional mountaintop village and take a deep dive into ancient history, then this is for you.

Love the sound of our Write in the Wild Heart of Italy retreat but not writing a book or screenplay? Our next tour follows a similar format with guided walking history tours each morning with a local archaeologist, opportunities for cooking and language classes and excursions to ‘wow-factor’ historical sites within the region.

We have designed a slow tour experience focusing on meandering through and experiencing life in the incredible and ancient mountaintop village of Veroli – deep within the heart of the ‘hidden’ region of Ciociara and so far off the beaten track that you need to be taken there.

We will be staying in a boutique 3-star hotel in a beautifully restored 1,000 year old former Benedictine Monastery,

We will be exploring Veroli each day with a local academic historian and archaeologist, going back through its medieval era to its time as a significant Roman town and further back to its origins as a fortress of the original Ernici tribe of the region.
