Silver Compass Tours Finalist in 2019 Regional Tourism Awards
Silver Compass Tours has been announced as a finalist in the 2019 Regional Tourism Awards for ‘Excellence in Food Tourism’ within the combined Destination Country & Outback and Murray Riverina regions.
“This is the first year we have entered the awards, and although we have been up and running for the past four years, 2019 was our ‘acceleration’ year with a number of new and extended local food and wine tour products launched – including the Provenance Express food and wine train to the Orange Food Week festival and the Bushranger Gang Food & Wine Adventure,” says Kelly Picarazzi, Owner & Chief Experience Officer of Silver Compass Tours.
“We are particularly proud of the Chinese visitor strategy we have been collaborating on with local tourism office Orange360, which has seen us develop tailored food and wine tour itineraries designed to appeal to Chinese expats in Sydney and host two Key Opinion Leader and social media influencer famils to test our ideas.
“Feedback from participants has been great, and not only are they coming back with their own friends to experience more of the Orange region, they are publishing blog posts inspiring others to do the same. We recently hosted a Chinese filmmaker and producer scouting for potential filming locations in Australia who contacted us via our WeChat channel as a direct result of this strategy.”
One hundred and one leading tourism businesses, events, and visitor experiences have been announced as finalists in the 2019 Regional Tourism Awards which includes an impressive cohort of destinations, events, tour operators, restaurants, wineries and accommodation providers.
“This year’s finalists showcase the best of the regional New South Wales’ tourism industry and some amazing individuals and operators. Each of these finalists is now in the running to be named a winner at our four award celebrations to be held in a few weeks’ time”, said Regional Tourism Awards Chair, Jane Barnes.
