COUNTRYLINK XPT TRAIN – DIRECT SERVICE
You can take a leisurely train ride to Orange from Central Station in Sydney. Board the direct XPT train service from the Country Platform at Central Station at around 7 in the morning and you’ll be at the historic Orange Railway Station by 12pm.
The XPT has a dining car serving breakfast and lunch during the trip, with a tuckshop to buy tea, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks. It’s a 5 hour journey, but looking out those plate glass windows onto the breathtaking scenery of the Blue Mountains eating a sausage roll with tomato sauce can’t really be beaten as an authentic Australian experience.
On the way back to Sydney, the XPT direct service leaves Orange at 4pm and you’re in the big smoke by around 9pm.
TRAINS TO LITHGOW
Additional trains depart from Sydney to Lithgow from the Country Platform at Central Station, and connect with a coach service to Orange. If you can’t bear the thought of sitting on a bus, we can arrange a pick-up for you from Lithgow train station. It’s a 2 hour drive by car to Orange from Lithgow (3 hours on a bus).
